SMaintian is the 5th generation of maintenance Software CCMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), developed by INTEC. It started over 20 years ago with the development based on the first X86 IBM personal computers in COBOL programming language and has since been developed continuously.
The third generation was built in Informix 4 GL and ran on UNIX as well as MS-DOS based networking systems.
Today it is based on the most powerful related database systems and has both a fully graphical user interface as a client server and a browser-based application.

The foundation of the data management is the related database. This secures the data on the database server hardware. Various implemented technologies make sure that there is constant, instant and reliable data access from all relevant sources, regardless of the quantity of users or amount of data. SMaintain always performs with speed and reliability.

SMaintain runs as a standard 2 Tier client server environment, where the application is installed on the client’s system or by file server use if there is good performance available.

Also it runs as a new 3 Tier application server technology where only a Web Browser is needed on the client’s machine. Since it is not necessary to install anything on the client’s machine, it runs in any distributed system without any effort of installation on the part of the client. All the programs are centrally served from the application server.

This offers the advantage that updates only have to be rolled out on the application server and the client will be updated automatically with no additional efforts.
The application is accessible globally. All that is required is a browser and an Intranet connection or even a Internet connection with optional VPN.

Even if there is a large amount of up-dates and adjustments to this Browser Technology, there is no change in the user interface. “Right mouse” and “drag and drop” options are supported as well as function keys and context sensitive menus.

The connection of remote workstations in different branches as well as mobile workplaces and PDAs with bar code interface and WIFI are supported.

SMaintian is an open system, where interfaces can be implemented easily and effortlessly. The ERD Diagram is open and standard interfaces like SAP using IDOCS of SAP / XI / JCO are available and already implemented successfully at our reference customers.
