Global system functionalities

As system characteristics of SMaintain we will give a few examples of our GUI framework which is implemented throughout the whole application.

Function Keys.
The F Keys are assigned to the most used functions and can also be reassigned

Toolbar.
The required functions are available on the toolbar, with context sensitive right mouse click menus.

Match-code queries.
This function allows for easy data search using the match-code queries in the specific item, as combined queries in more items simultaneously as well as in groups of selection items. If a match-code query is not accessible using the % "*" symbols, it can be replaced by a group definition or multiple selection.

Detail / List views.
Presentation of data can be chosen in detailed form as a listed view where the columns of the list can be personalized to each user or group.

Skins / colours.
All colour settings and colour combinations, as well as fonts used can be set by the system administrator. The system will appear according to your standards or taste.

Form layout generator.
Each user should be presented only with the data items that they have to work with. IN SMaintain you can define layouts per group or user to personalize the system and present only the information relevant to that particular user or group.

User security.
The rights to insert, update, delete and query data can be set at group or user level. Usage of toolbar items and functions can be pre-set. In combination with the layout generation and the mandatory client support we can fulfil all customer requirements in configuration.

Branch support (mandator)
It is possible to separate data within one database, where part of the tables are separated. Dedicated users or branches can see only their own entries or the branch-specific entries.

Cockpit / dashboard / quick start / workflow control
The Cockpit or Dashboard function with quick-start and a workflow view offers a personalized, easily accessible navigation centre for each user of the system. Additionally, important system information can be shown as always available "background information" without any user interaction. The users’ most important information is always there and is indicated by graphical objects like signals showing green, yellow or red status as well as scales.
The cockpit also supports the management functions showing pie or bar charts of the most needed analysis information. (for example cost per current month, actual jobs open for the branch or plant and many more)

Export.
All search results can be exported to standard CSV or Excel

Import:
The import of data using a standardized and documented format using MS-Excel or MS-Access or other 3rd party tools is supported as far as user security allows.

Stored queries.
If the user likes to reuse a query or a layout definition, it can be stored in the users’ profile. After opening a form or list, the user will be presented with his default query and layout, but this can be changed to any other stored one with just a mouse click. It is also possible to create queries and layouts and assign them to a user-group or users. With this function common lists and queries can be distributed. Additionally it is possible to mark a query as automatic. In this case the query will be executed for this user automatically when the user enters the form. A good example is to mark a query as automatic for the users working in the electronics group to search all open jobs assigned to this group. As soon as the user calls the function job administration this list will be presented to the user.

Dynamic date range.
The analysis and report function in SMaintain offers dynamic date range selection for the date items. By using this function the user can define a dynamic date range like "last week, last month, last year, current week , current month " and so on. Each timer interval which can be computed using the current date (sysdate) can be specified and used for a stored query. Depending on the current date the system will calculate the dynamic date range and the result report or selection can be produced without changing the query.

Scheduled reports.
Each report or analysis which is based on a stored query can be scheduled. For example, we can define the report of all feedbacks for the week to be created each Sunday and stored in a certain user directory or sent via email to any email address. The results are simply produced as PDF files and scheduled and sent with your default email application. This is an easy-to-use management information system.

Multi language support.
SMaintain can talk to you in any language you want. English and German are free and other languages are offered up on request or you simply translate the system yourself using the provided data dictionary.

Audit.
Smaintain can track all system usage and store that information in auditing tables. If audit is activated for a certain table, each action on that table resulting in a change of values in any of the columns is logged. The administrator can, at any time, monitor what changes were made and by whom.

Event information
SMaintain offers numerous events which you can use. To get notification of these events (for example the creation of a job, or completion of job) then simply define that event and the email address and text of the notification. Whenever this event occurs the message will be automatically generated and sent to the specified users.
